James W. Gilchrist,
Jr. James Gilchrist specializes in automobile accidents, defective products, and torts. Jim is an active member of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and closely involved with the Association's monitoring of legislative issues. In particular, Jim has actively defended the rights of victims to a jury trial in civil cases. Articles written by Jim in defense of our jury system have been published in both The State newspaper and in the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Bulletin. Jim has been an attorney with Turnipseed & Associates since 1985. Jim is a native of Edgefield, SC, and studied political science and history at Clemson University, where he received his undergraduate degree. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, during which time he was a clerk for Turnipseed & Associates. He and his wife Dana have two young daughters: Laura Carlisle and Elizabeth Spenser. Jim is very
involved in his community and his church, Shandon Presbyterian. There, he
is an Elder. He is an active member of
the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and works with the
association in the area of monitoring legislative issues. He is very
active as a volunteer governmental relations representative with Richland
County School District One. Most recently, he has assumed responsibility
as chairman of the Shandon Cluster of Churches' Hand
Middle School Project. This project is a very important community outreach
ministry that has traditionally been enthusiastically supported by Jim's
church, Shandon Presbyterian. He is also a member of the board of the
Partners in Education Foundation, associated with Richland School District
One. Finally, in the past, he has
been involved with the Midland's Crop Walk Against Hunger. |
